Украина сделала очередной шаг к вступлению в НАТО

Верховная рада Украины подписала законопроект, определяющий основное направление внешней политики страны, а именно – вступление Украины в состав НАТО. Принятие закона было поддержано 276 депутатами, что намного превышает необходимое минимальное количество голосов – 226. 
 
Рада изменила законы «Об основах национальной безопасности Украины» и «Об основах внутренней и внешней политики», внеся некоторые поправки относительно приоритетного стремления Украины вступить в ряды стран НАТО. 
 
Ранее в марте Украина направила в конгресс США официальную просьбу о предоставлении статуса основного союзника вне НАТО. В отличие от достаточно долгого процесса принятия стран в состав НАТО, предоставление стране статуса основного союзника не требует долгого рассмотрения и согласия остальных стран-участников.  
 
Президент Украины Петр Порошенко планирует провести референдум по вопросам членства в НАТО. Уже более 54% населения страны выступают за вступление в альянс. К примеру, 4 года назад эта цифра составляла всего 16% населения.
