Toyota инвестирует в сингапурский стартап Grab

«Доу Джонс»: Крупнейший японский автопроизводитель Toyota Motor Corp. намерен развивать бизнес такси и сотрудничество с сингапурским стартапом Grab Inc., азиатским конкурентом Uber 

Toyota Tsusho Corp., член корпорации Toyota Group, поддержит Grab в рамках раунда привлечения инвестиций на $2,5 млрд. Размер вложения со стороны Toyota Tsusho не уточняется.

Toyota оборудует 100 автомобилей Grab устройствами, собирающими данные о поведении водителей. Впоследствии компания намерена разработать автомобильный сервис страхования, основанный на способе эксплуатации автомобиля.

Японские компании проявляют сдержанный интерес к популярным сервисам такси и каршеринга. Ранее Toyota объявляла о сотрудничестве с Uber Technologies Inc., предоставляя компании автомобили в аренду с возможностью последующего выкупа. 
А Honda Motor Co. в декабре 2016 года инвестировала в проект такси-мотоциклов Grab. 

Кроме того, Toyota участвовала в каршеринг-проекте Getaround в США. В стартапе была задействована технология Toyota, позволяющая заводить двигатель смартфоном.

В будущем японская корпорация намерена запустить собственную платформу автотранспортных услуг.
