This step was expected after a series of increases at the previous ten meetings. The Dow Jones Industrial Enterprises index rose 0.56% to 34,171.3 points, the NASDAQ high-tech companies index increased 0.3% to 13,667.86 points, and the S&P 500 broad market index rose 0.43% to 4,391.34 points. The central bank also improved forecasts for unemployment and GDP growth for the current year, slightly raising expectations for inflation. In addition, the regulator allowed the possibility of raising the rate before the end of the year. According to surveys, 62% of analysts expect an increase to 5.25-5.5% at the meeting to be held on July 25-26. Experts note that they are not surprised by the Fed's pause and the fact that the central bank has not yet finished raising the rate. Many believe that there is a hidden inflationary pressure, and the Fed should take into account the visible risks and act accordingly. On Thursday, economic statistics for the United States were also published. The number of initial applications for unemployment benefits for the week ended June 10 remained at the level of the previous week, amounting to 262 thousand. And the volume of industrial production in the United States in May unexpectedly decreased by 0.2% compared to April.
