David Vance, Senator from Ohio, has extensive academic and professional experience. After graduating from the local state university and receiving a degree from Yale Law School, he worked for the law firm Sidley Austin, the venture capital company Revolution LLC and the investment firm Mithril Capital. Domestic policy Vance is a conservative who advocates banning unrestricted immigration, abortion and traditional family values, which makes him close in views to Trump. Interestingly, Vance has actively criticized Trump in the past, but has now become his main supporter. Foreign policy In 2022, Vance declared his indifference to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict: «I have to be honest with you, I don't care what happens to Ukraine one way or another.» In February 2024, he called for a review of initiatives to support Ukraine and refused to meet with Ukrainian delegates. According to Politico, the possible appointment of Vance to the post of vice president would be a «disaster for Ukraine.» He intends not only to establish a negotiation process with the Russian Federation, but also to limit assistance to both it and NATO countries. Donald Trump himself plans to «quickly solve the problem» between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, focusing on China, in which Vance will fully support him.
