The worsening economic performance in the United States came at a time when the US Federal Reserve announced that it may begin to phase out the bond buyback program later this year. As a result, the market's attention shifted from opening economies, strong monetary support measures and strong corporate profits to talk of phasing out stimulus measures, political uncertainty, slowing economic growth and geopolitical tensions around the world.
