Experts from the investment bank Saxo Bank have shared a shocking forecast for 2022. The bank expects a massive arms race to begin next year among the leading military forces, including Russia, the United States, China, the EU and India. Analysts do not exclude the possibility that hypersound and space will become the main themes of a new stage in the rivalry between the United States and China on all fronts, economic and military. Experts made such conclusions, taking into account the financing priorities of both countries. Other major powers with advanced military technologies – Russia, India, Israel and the European Union - can also join the PRC and the United States. Saxo Bank believes hypersonic technology represents a revolutionary threat to its long-standing military-strategic status quo. On the one hand, hypersound renders entire types of weapons useless: for example, surface ships will not be able to defend against a hypersonic attack. In addition, the new weapon could shake faith in the principle of mutually assured destruction in the event of a nuclear war. This refers to the fact that the speed and maneuverability of hypersonic technology puts their owner at an undeniably unattainable level. It is worth noting that China has already tested a hypersonic missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons, and this caught US intelligence by surprise. At the same time, the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that these were only tests of a spacecraft, and not a hypersonic rocket.
