Komise SEC se při regulaci kryptoměn spoléhala především na donucovací opatření, což vedlo ke zmatkům a brzdilo inovace. Pracovní skupina plánuje pracovat v legislativním rámci stanoveném Kongresem, koordinovat svou činnost s federálními ministerstvy a agenturami a usilovat o získání podnětů od investorů, účastníků odvětví, akademiků a dalších zainteresovaných stran.
