In August, Russia exported 3.8 million tons of coal to South Korea, a record figure in the history of trade between the two countries. This volume is 25% higher than in July and one and a half times higher than last year's level. The previous maximum was recorded in December 2022 (3.1 million tons). The cost of supplies in August increased by 14% both compared to July and in annual terms, amounting to $335.1 million. For comparison, the record cost was recorded in July 2023 – $424 million for 3 million tons. From January to August 2025, South Korea purchased 13.5 million tons of coal from Russia for $1.4 billion. A year earlier, the figure was 12.9 million tons, but with a higher amount – $1.6 billion.
