The EAEU and Iran have signed a three-year roadmap for the implementation of the free trade area agreement. The document includes the development of transport and logistics links, digitalization of procedures, the introduction of «green» corridors and the transition to electronic transit. The North-South corridor will be a key direction. The parties agreed on the mutual recognition of Halal certification, which will increase the export of agricultural products. Supplies are already underway, and the new agreement should increase their volume and simplify market access. A dialogue has also begun between the largest marketplaces of the EAEU and Iran. This creates new channels for small and medium-sized businesses, expanding the possibilities of mutual trade in the online segment. It is estimated that trade between the EAEU and Iran may double in the medium term and reach $12 billion. The FTA Agreement entered into force on May 15, 2025 and was an important step towards strengthening the economic partnership.
