Trump allowed China to buy Iranian oil

Donald Trump said on Tuesday that China may continue to purchase Iranian oil after a cease-fire agreement was reached between Israel and Iran.

«Now China can continue to buy oil from Iran. I hope they will also buy a lot from the United States,» Trump wrote on Truth Social.

These statements emphasized that Iran has not attempted to block the Strait of Hormuz for tankers carrying oil. This fact was perceived by the markets as an additional factor contributing to lower oil prices.

Meanwhile, a White House official said that Trump continues to actively urge China and other countries to give preference to modern American oil instead of buying Iranian oil, violating current US sanctions.
