Trump is considering replacing the head of the Fed

Donald Trump has again criticized Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, expressing dissatisfaction with his refusal to lower interest rates. Trump said he was already considering several candidates to replace Powell. 

Among the most discussed figures, analysts single out Kevin Warsh, a former member of the Fed's Board of Governors, Kevin Hassett, head of the National Economic Council, Christopher Waller, a member of the Board of Governors, and Scott Bessent, Treasury Secretary.

Although the US president often hints at Powell's possible dismissal, he sometimes contradicts himself: for example, in June, Trump announced that he did not intend to remove him from office. Kevin Hassett, one of the potential candidates, declined to comment on the situation, stressing that the decision rests with the president.

Experts believe that Trump's statements may be an attempt to influence monetary policy before Powell's term expires in 2026.
