The EU and Japan unite to fight economic pressure

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU and Japan intend to strengthen joint efforts in countering economic pressure and problems related to unfair trade practices. 

This comment followed the conclusion of the EU-Japan summit, which was attended by Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The event has become particularly relevant given the current difficulties of the EU in the process of concluding a trade agreement with the United States, as well as the upcoming negotiations with representatives of China on Thursday, which may prove difficult.

According to Leyen, the parties intend to focus their efforts on strengthening economic security within the framework of the bilateral partnership. Special attention will be paid to measures aimed at eliminating economic pressures and ensuring fair conditions for international trade.

«We will work more closely together to counter economic coercion and address unfair trade practices,» the commission chairman stressed.
