The European Commission has denied rumors about plans to set a temporary limit on the cost of gas in Europe. Such a statement appeared on the pages of Politico, referring to an unnamed representative of the EC. 

Earlier, the media reported that the European Commission is considering the idea of temporarily limiting gas prices in conditions of significant growth. Such steps were discussed in the context of recent events related to statements by US President Donald Trump about possible tough measures against the EU. For example, the Financial Times newspaper argued that this proposal could be part of a strategy to stabilize the situation in the energy market.

However, as Politico clarifies, citing its sources, the EU does not intend to include such restrictions in its program of actions aimed at reducing energy costs. 

It is worth noting that after the appearance of such messages, concerns arose in the markets. Individual companies and merchants have stated the risks associated with the potential introduction of price limits, which led to a quick reaction from the EU and subsequent denial.
