According to the United States Department of Labor, annual inflation in the country accelerated in June to 9.1%, which was the highest since November 1981. In the previous month, US consumer prices rose by 8.6%. Monthly inflation was fixed at 1.3%. Analysts predicted that the annual rate would accelerate to 8.8%, and the monthly rate to 1.1%. At the same time, core inflation in the United States (excluding food and energy prices) slowed to 5.9% in annual terms (from 6% a month earlier), and accelerated to 0.7% on a monthly basis from the 0.6% level in May. At the same time, food prices in the United States rose by 1% in June, energy prices rose by 10.4%. On an annualized basis, food prices rose by 10.4%, which was also the largest increase in annual terms since February 1981, and energy – by 60.6%.
