EU increases gas imports from the USA

The EU is actively working to expand gas supplies from the United States and other countries, as well as to increase the use of energy from renewable sources to replace the lost volumes from Russia. This step is due to the decision to abandon Russian fossil fuels by 2027, which was a response to Russia's military actions on the territory of Ukraine. 

Despite the reduction in pipeline gas supplies from Russia, imports of Russian liquefied natural gas to the EU have increased markedly over the past year. Against this background, Brussels is taking steps to accelerate the introduction of renewable energy. Particular attention is being paid to finding alternative solutions for power supply to industrial enterprises and heating residential buildings, where electricity use remains limited.

Meanwhile, the European gas market is facing a new price increase, reaching its highest levels in the last two years. Even before the start of his term, US President Donald Trump noted that the EU could find itself in a difficult situation if it did not increase the volume of oil and gas imports from the United States.
