Investors also paid attention to statistics. According to the first estimate, the US GDP in the first quarter grew by 1.1% on an annualized basis (if the GDP grew at the same rate for four consecutive quarters). A 2% growth was forecasted.

Among the growth leaders in the Dow Jones index components at the end of today's trading were Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) shares, which appreciated by 1.87 points (5.07%), closing at 38.79. Honeywell International Inc (NASDAQ:HON) quotes rose by 7.71 points (4.04%), finishing trading at 198.61. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) shares increased in price by 3.32 points (3.44%), closing at 99.93.

The least gainers were Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT) shares, the price of which fell by 1.86 points (0.86%), closing at 214.33. Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) shares decreased by 0.02 points (0.04%), closing at 46.56, while Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) shares increased in price by 0.13 points (0.20%) and ended trading at 63.68.

Among the growth leaders in the S&P 500 index components at the end of today's trading were Hasbro Inc (NASDAQ:HAS) shares, which appreciated by 14.63% to 58.93, Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META), which gained 13.93%, closing at 238.56, and Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA) shares, which rose by 10.27%, finishing the session at 40.27.

The least gainers were Align Technology Inc (NASDAQ:ALGN) shares, which dropped in price by 10.39%, closing at 317.73. AbbVie Inc (NYSE:ABBV) shares lost 7.93% and ended the session at 148.97. Domino's Pizza Inc (NYSE:DPZ) quotes fell in price by 6.48% to 317.07.

Among the growth leaders in the NASDAQ Composite index components at the end of today's trading were TOP Financial Group Ltd (NASDAQ:TOP) shares, which appreciated by 197.62% to 20.00, Evelo Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:EVLO), which gained 101.10%, closing at 0.20, and Hillstream Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ:HILS) shares, which rose by 53.56%, finishing the session at 1.09.

The least gainers were Baudax Bio Inc (NASDAQ:BXRX) shares, which dropped in price by 55.79%, closing at 0.78. Impinj Inc (NASDAQ:PI) shares lost 39.06% and ended the session at 82.47. Appreciate Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:SFR) quotes fell in price by 27.78% to 0.91.

At the New York Stock Exchange, the number of shares that rose (2,271) exceeded the number that closed in the negative (674), while the quotes of 98 shares remained almost unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,304 companies' shares appreciated, 1,266 declined, and 169 remained at the previous closing level.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading indicators, fell by 9.61% to 17.03.Gold futures for June delivery added 0.06%, or 1.25, reaching $1,000 per troy ounce. As for other commodities, WTI crude oil futures for June delivery increased by 0.69%, or 0.51, to $74.81 per barrel. Brent crude oil futures for July delivery rose by 0.72%, or 0.56, to $78.28 per barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, the EUR/USD pair remained virtually unchanged, moving up by 0.13% to 1.10, and the USD/JPY quotes increased by 0.21%, reaching 133.95.

The US Dollar Index futures grew by 0.04% to 101.24.
