Řím (Reuters) – Itálie prozatím nemá v úmyslu využít rozpočtové volnosti, kterou jí umožňuje Evropská unie, ke zvýšení svých výdajů na obranu, uvedl v sobotu její ministr hospodářství, a to navzdory tlaku USA na zvýšení vojenských výdajů.

Evropská komise navrhla, aby členské státy mohly po dobu čtyř let každoročně zvyšovat výdaje na obranu o 1,5 % hrubého domácího produktu, a to bez jakýchkoli disciplinárních kroků, které obvykle nastupují, jakmile se schodek veřejných financí vyšplhá nad 3 % HDP.

Vysoce zadlužená Itálie hodlá splnit svůj závazek zvýšit domácí rozpočet na obranu z přibližně 1,5 % HDP v roce 2024 na nejméně 2 % HDP i bez tohoto volného prostoru, řekl ministr hospodářství Giancarlo Giorgetti novinářům na závěr zasedání ministrů financí EU ve Varšavě.

„Cílem není aktivovat národní únikovou doložku,“ řekl.
